Our Story
The story of Veera Group is one of remarkable determination, innovation, and unwavering commitment to sustainability. From its humble beginnings in the small village of Vayallur, the company has grown into a globally recognized leader in renewable energy and waste-to-energy technologies. It all began in 2009, when the visionary founder, Mr. Venkatesh Prabu Jayaram, a proud farmer and engineering graduate, made a life-changing decision. Despite receiving a lucrative job offer from a top German company, Mr. Venkatesh chose to follow his passion for renewable energy, turning down a 7-figure salary at the age of 24 to start his entrepreneurial journey. His first venture, VBK Fibers, focused on the installation, repair, and maintenance of wind turbines, marking his entry into the field of renewables.
The trajectory of Veera Group took a transformative leap in 2011 when Mr. Venkatesh made a pivotal trip to China. This visit opened up significant supply chain collaborations, including partnerships with Shenzhen Effsun Wind Power Co. Ltd., marking the beginning of Veera’s global footprint. That same year, the company ventured into the biomass gasifier market with its groundbreaking containerized model — India’s first 100% TAR-FREE gasifier system. This innovation was a game-changer, enabling the company to cater to a variety of industrial and energy applications. The containerized gasifier technology quickly gained international attention, with projects in Belgium using agricultural waste and in South Africa, where the company presented its first CANOPY model, utilizing macadamia nut shells as a feedstock for energy generation.
By 2013, Veera Group had firmly established itself as a pioneer in alternative energy solutions, leading to the formation of Sakthi Veera Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. (SVGE) and the launch of the Veera Biopower brand. Under this banner, the company began manufacturing a wide range of biomass gasifiers and biomass pellets for heat energy applications. These developments allowed Veera to expand its reach even further, with products shipped to clients across the United States and Europe. Despite facing challenges, such as key team members parting ways in 2014, the company’s resolve never wavered. With strong leadership from Mr. Venkatesh and his business partner, Ms. Uma Maheswari, who played a pivotal role in the company’s growth, Veera Group continued to forge ahead.
In 2015, Veera Group diversified its offerings through collaborations with UK entities, launching biomass pellet machines designed for both energy generation and cattle feed applications. This marked a significant step in the company’s growth, as it expanded its consulting services and began working on municipal solid waste processing machinery, including small-scale anaerobic biogas digestors and plastic pyrolysis units. One of the company’s proudest moments came when it was entrusted with a disaster management project for ISRO, where Veera supplied a hybrid solar and wind power system for hydrogen fuel cell power generation.
Even in the face of adversity, such as the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Veera Group remained resilient. The team’s dedication and commitment saw them through these difficult times, and the company continued to deliver technology transfers to clients across Europe, Africa, and South America. By 2018, Veera had introduced its fully electric waste oil to diesel machine, a revolutionary product under the Veera Biopower brand, which became India’s first and most affordable model for the global market. The company’s innovative spirit didn’t stop there; in 2019, they launched smart energy saver cooking machines, delivering up to 60% time and labor savings for restaurant chains, further cementing Veera Group’s reputation for practical, sustainable solutions.
As of 2024, Veera Group proudly serves over 45 countries worldwide, with a diverse portfolio of products and services designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions. The company’s commitment to quality and excellence is reflected in its international certifications, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and CE accreditation. Today, Veera Group stands as a global leader in waste-to-energy technology, driven by a vision for a cleaner, more sustainable future. From its modest beginnings in Vayallur to becoming a renowned international brand, Veera Group continues to innovate, inspire, and lead the way in renewable energy.
